Zen Origami, Next Date, TBD.
In person at Freedom Counseling and Yoga. Suggested donation: $15. Free for members.
Origami, the Japanese art of folding paper, is a fun and mindful art practice. In this class, we’ll explore the Zen teaching of form and emptiness as it relates to origami. The blank square of paper represents emptiness (also known as boundlessness), the aspect of reality that merges all things into one seamless body. Proceeding fold by fold, we’ll arrive at the other side, the world of form, the aspect of reality that expresses diversity, beauty and uniqueness. Creations will include animals, flowers, and the classic origami crane, a symbol of good luck. Kids 8 and over are welcome, as well as adults! All materials provided. You’ll go home with several origami creations to share or gift! No previous experience required.
