Meet our Director,
Laurie Kido Lyons, Sensei (she/her)
Laurie has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1996. In 2003, she began formal Zen practice, and in 2010, took jukai (lay Buddhist vows) receiving the Dharma name, Kido, meaning Bright Truth. Laurie formed a meditation group and began teaching Zen in Naples, FL in 2010. She received Dharma Transmission, full authorization to teach Zen independently, in 2018. Laurie is an Ordained Minister through American Marriage Ministries, authorized to officiate ceremonies including weddings, funerals, and baby blessings. Laurie holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music performance. She worked as an orchestral musician, performing as a percussionist with the Naples Philharmonic for over 20 years. She now works as a piano teacher and gets to receive Zen wisdom from small children every day.
